Well Jules, I mostly use the desk EQ, my outboard comps (I have 3 RNC's too..) and I have a PCM 91 for my main 'verb. I do however use alot of VST plugins for the messing up of sounds. I'm in the process of saving for a pro tools rig for the better (IMHO) TDM plugs. ( I really want to run the Bomb Factory plugs.) I think the HEDD is going to be the best option here for the converters if nothing else. I'm making dirty breakbeat records and twisted deep house which is why I want the 'fat dirt' factor.

You have 1176's and LA3a ... you are half way there with the real thing! And the RNC's are cool.

If you get the HEDD I will be envious.
The Distressor from Mixmasters in South Aust is another choice ... both are expensive.

An analog filter bank thingy could be cool.

Heya Kev..I'm not the only Aussie here!

I want the Bomb Factory plugs because they seem to be some of the best quality plug ins around, and they are available for EVERY format except VST. The Sansamp, the pultec, the fairchild, the moogerfooger...All good and I don't own any of them!

As I said in another post we Aussies are doing fine here.

I don't think you need the plugs but try the demos first!

A quality analog device will serve you well for years to come. The plug upgrade merry-go-round can be a pain!

Hey..Got a question for ya Jules if your around..
I believe you use both a HEDD and a Fatso, and if you could only have one, which would you choose? I want both, but my budget won't allow it right now...

Given you've already got some great outboard compression (LA3A's, 1176's) definitely go for the HEDD - then you get two great channels of D/A and A/D.

Funny thing is, I was in almost exactly the same situation a little while back - I bought both the FATSO and the HEDD, and then woke up and realized I wasn't going to be able to keep both, plus my house and my car. I had to chose one, and the FATSO went back to the store. Haven't regretted keeping the HEDD for a moment!
