Slammed? i would not call it Slammed... The R&D was in Germany. The Soundscape company was based in England. Yes the SSL version is the same with some updates....

Ha! well I'll rephrase that and say we got introduced to Soundscape with great passionate vigilance that was welcomed by me indeed! PT was coming on strong and you were an absolute blast.

OMG Joel, the pic you sent me has damn near stopped my heart! Okay, that's all I'll say lol. Well, maybe a bit more, Soundscape looks pretty cool. PT is loosing momentum and I couldn't help wonder how SC is doing in this whole racket.

I believe sonofsmawg lives in Vegas. Remember him? He was great supporter here.

I have not really kept track of Soundscape since 2001 other then watching the brand here and there. Was laughing when SSL ended up with it.

Pt and the other DAW's have all hit a proverbial wall, you can only offer so many features. With digital having the same sound for the most part from one solution to the other, it comes down to reliability and plug in libraries that drive a particular brands success. I have both PT and Logic Pro. Both use the exact same plug in libraries and sound exactly the same. its all in how it looks and how the workflow is in each application that now defines it. A lot has changed since i first step foot on here hailing the flag of Soundscape on its war to rule the world.

It was then that "analog" was dead, the day of the large format console was fading into history like the fog seen on hwy 101 in So. Ca. on a early spring morning. Well, they were wrong..... They sill build large format consoles today (SSL, Neve, API, etc) they did not die, just slowed. With the advances in digital, came the resurgence of analog. kinda ironic when you think about. Digital advances only to reduce its roll in the picture. Although, Digital is the recorder/editor of choice, just not so much for processing and summing. I personally think PT/Avid helped this along, when you think about it, $100K for a mouse? or a large formate console... Hmmmm

Here i am living in the dark ages and wondering if anybody other than me still uses this stuff??
I still have my first SSHDR1 with Ibox8 running on a 486 with NT. SSHDR needs a power supply now.
My other system is an SS32 with 3 SS8i/o's for a full 24 track in and out. I have this paired with an old Allen & Heath GS3000. I got my first system in the mid 90's and moved to SS32 in 2005. I will use it till it breaks!!

Kevin, SS was a good product in its day and is still very viable as long as it meets your needs, in the end thats all that matters!

So, since i last posted on here i purchased anther SS32, Mixpander 9 card, Mixtreme card and all the available plugins and passcodes. I was concerned about my SS32 quiting some day and wanted a back up unit. So for what i do which is primarily live recording and mixing i'm set for the next while anyway.
