Ive done some recording using 2 guitar amps and two mics (sometimes even 2 mics per amp),panned left and right at the board, using two channels, to try to get that big (I'm standing next to the amp----big room---full sound).
Does anyone out there use this method?-if not,how about some ideas

If you like your room sound, I would suggest one mic close and a stereo pair of condensers or ribbons out in the room. Try an X-Y pattern. Again, watch phase.
In mixdown place the close mic up the middle and pan the stereo pair L-R. Expeiment with the width of the pan.
Hope this helps,
