First off recording is recording doesn't matter if its vocals or music. If you are not getting a signal then there is/are reason(s.) It may be that your connector between the mic and the soundcard is not the correct type (for example a mono jack inserted into a stereo input.) You do not have the correct driver chosen for Cubase though this is less likely if you have playback ability. You do not have the bus set up correctly which is how signals are routed to cubase. If you purchased this software it should have come with three manuals Getting Started, Operation Manual and the Plugin Manual, you will need to use the getting started manual to set up the routing correctly but because you are using your computer sound card you will have to subsitute whatever driver is needed. If you can't figure this out yourself you will need to supply screenshots of what it is you are attempting because there is no way anyone could possibly divine what it is you are doing wrong. Just a note if this is unlicensed software you are not going to get help here.
