Well, USB you are limited to the amount of inputs and outputs you can have at once. Most USB audio devices are only USB 1.1
I don't think, nor have I looked for any, there are any USB 2.0 Audio devices! Most devices are FireWire or PCI.
PCI is truly the best way to go for multichannel recording. Also latency and performance is much better on PCI vs. USB.
