I am deciding on a new interface, either a MOTU or RMEif i can find one at the right price. I was wondering if any of you had basic recordings of a guitar and vocal or something like that so i can hear the queality that i can expect. I am just trying to get an idea of the possiblilities are versus going to a studio and trowing down money for a couple tracks.

also, i read that i can use these as live mixers for a PA. But how much watts can they handle? i could not find that

Just out of curiousity, where did you read that either of these would be suitable for live sound? If it's something online, I'd like to read and see if I'm missing something. I think it would be really cumbersome for that, with no sliders as Jack points out. There might be other choices that would be better for that, for just a little more cash than the RME Fireface 800.

And depending on your expectations, sometimes it's better to cough up the money and go to a studio. If you're new to recording it may take years to hone your recording skills.

Neither of these "handle" any watts. That's between your power amps and your speakers.
While either could be used for PA work, these are recording interfaces and not live sound mixing boards. There are no sliders at all. You would need to be very experienced and quite familiar with your interface to use it for live sound and with a limited number of channels.
