I am using Cubase LE 4 with a Lexicon Alpha to do some simple recording. I have a microphone plugged into the Alpha's XLR jack, which I guess is the right (as opposed to left) input. The alpha RCA outputs go to my two speakers, or sometimes headphones plugged into the speakers.
When I record into a stereo track, I only hear playback through the right side. I figured that was because there was nothing going into the left side, which explained why when I panned all the way left it went silent. I tried recording into a mono track, but nothing recorded. I just had a blank track. I tried to check that the track was hooked up to a bus, but I couldn't really tell.
Is there some way to toy with the buses to make this work? I must be making some really fundamental mistake, but I don't know what it is. Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Press (F4) for VST Connections. Navigate to Input tab. Right click inside the window and select "Add Bus". Choose Mono bus and click OK. Make sure the Mic input on your interface is connected to Mono In 1.
Go back to the project window and route Mono In 1 to the stereo track.
Hope that helps.
Cheers :)

Within Cubase you need to go to VST setup. Make sure that all the inputs are available. When you then go into your project and create a new track you will select the input as mono and analog 1 or 2 depending on which XLR you are plugging into.
