1....if you are recording through this chain then why don't you just go for like mic/preamp/recording device.....
later on you can add reverbs and delays of as many kind or choice u want....once the voice recorded with the effects..will remain in the same manner you cannot mute the fx...record the plain vocal...

2.... since going directly to the card..the interface similarly as you can add reverbs and delays later on...almost every software has its own track eqs....

I actually want to record my rack effects direct to disk. I realize that most people would disagree with this but I'm a musician not an engineer and I'm only recording for writing purposes. I don't want to spend the time it takes to go through plugins and setting up aux sends.

IMHO, it's best to place the EQ after the preamp.
