Hi,

I'd like to add a 3rd display to my Windows XP setup (Intel Q8400 MSI mobo). Obviously, don't need hi-res since it's just DAW. I have a Radeon 2-head and tried activating the mobo's on-board VGA adapter for the 3rd display and it didn't show up.

I do have a Matrox Triple Head, but it's an older connector that doesn't work in the AGP (sic?) slot so I guess it's now -too- old.

I will be upgrading to Win7 (...or maybe 8) soon, but I was hoping for something I could use on both.

Any suggestions on a cheap solution? ... either to add onto the Radeon, or a replacement 3-head card?

TIA,

---JC

Hey, thanks.

I make it a policy to never buy any device that looks like an HR Giger painting. :D

Seriously, it looks cool, but I was hoping for something single slot and under $100. My old Matrox had a VGA plug and then ae DVI plug with a y-cable to split into 2 VGAs. I was hoping there was something like that out there that fit into a PCIe slot (which I guess is what I have on this machine.)

Got anything like -that-?

I've posted this question on a couple of fora and received no replies, except 'eyerolls'. Clearly this is such a noob question to most people, but I -never- think about 'video' so it ain't to -me-.

I use the PowerColor Radeon HD 6850, because it's fanless (silent).
It has a large heat sink which ads to the cost, but I've seen cheaper
versions of the Radeon HD 6850 that do have fans.

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately I don't know anything that supports 3 displays for under $100... except this:

I have an old version of the UV Plus and it works quiet well, but not as good as having an extra monitor connected straight to your video card.

But... the newer versions looks to be much higher performance, and support two extra displays each.

I think this is your best bet for under $100 (it would be an add on to your existing card).
