I recently purchased a MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7 and am looking for a good interface to use with it.
I will most likely be using garageband or Cubase as my DAW.
I only need one channel or 2 because I'm only using it for basic stuff. (No crazy multitrack recording)
I record everything one at a time, Im looking for something quick with no latency. Most my recordings are between 10 and 20 tracks.
My budget is about $100.
How much better is firewire then usb / usb 2.0?
I was looking at the http://www.musician…"]Steinberg CI1 [/]="http://www.musician…"]Steinberg CI1 [/]but i didn't know how good it was.
I used to have a fire pod but it broke when i was using it on my pc. I hear prosonus products are horrible about updating drivers.
Im finding it hard to find something that supports Lion without breaking the bank.
What would you recommend to me?
Thanks!

It's difficult to reconcile "good interface" with "about $100".

If you can get round the Lion driver issue (by using Soundflower or some other method), I would look on Ebay for an original Digidesign Mbox (NOT the Mbox 2 or Mbox 3). The original Mbox is USB connected and has Focusrite pre-amps, which in themselves are worth the $50 - $90 that they go for.
