Hey all,
a while ago i posted a similar topic,
I need to get a studio mixer but dont know if i should go analog or digital, it'll be used for tape returns mainly ( occassionaly may need to use the features a digital console has to offer,i.e, internal fx, which i think is handy when bringing a track back to the desk for mixdown),I just love the good old fashion layout of an analog desk, I'm trying to future proof my setup as much as i can as well (then again is that possible!),
if i am to go digital i would get the 01v96, but I'm kinda stuck on deciding which analog console would do the job (tonaly as well as features).
should i go analog and buy other gear with any leftover cash? (then again there never is any left over cash from music gear!)
can anyone help my distorted mind!
cheers all,
sammyg
p.s. thanks to all that replied to my converters post, i have made up my mind and will go for the apogees.
well, you say that you want/need the add-ons of a digital mixer
well, you say that you want/need the add-ons of a digital mixer like the 01V and you want to be in a position where it's easy to upgrade.
the yamaha will serve you well -- it's 96k, surround monitoring capable, internal fx, pres for recording, great internal routing options etc. this may also save you the money spent in buying outboard.
but all of it really depends on the nature of recordings/mixes that you'll be doing. if you're mixing more than recording, then the pres won't really matter .. and the returns coming of a DAW through the digital ins can take care of a 'clean' signal.
