I've heard that certain of these Anti-virus/maintenance pg.'s can interfere w/ your system. Can someone tell me if this Is true and/or which brands are more compatible w/ running audio and if there is a particular way these prog.'s should be configured?

Yes, it is very true that Anti Virus programs, any flavor will cause issues with audio programs and other applications. See the Virus program will latch on to certain drives and or registry entries and can cause glitches while recording or corrupt files as they are being recorded. You can have them installed(highly not recommended though) and just configure them to NEVER run automatically. You have to manually do your scanning or protection schemes.
