Has anyone heard the Apogee AD-16? I've done a search on the forum, but it doesn't really pull up anything. Seems nice to have 16 Apogeeconverters for under $3k. Also, how do these compare to the AD-8000SE's or the Mytek 8x96? I've heard that Prismand benchmark are better all around, but that's some serious bucks, especially if the mytek or AD-16's can do a competent job. Thanks a lot for the help, it never cease's to amaze me how much people here know.

PS. Would there be any way to demo these around the L.A. area? It seems that not too many people carry Mytek's and such.

Yeah, I fear you're correct, the Myteks are a pain to find. Would you suggest anything in the AD-16's price range with at least 8 A-D converters over the AD-16?

It's completely a weird time to be buying digital stuff. It's come so far in such a short time, you've just got to wonder about your return on investment. The good thing is, is that they've (technology) finally arrived at a place where digital sounds good right now as it is. So even if they vastly improve it from what it is today, you're stuff from today will still sound good later... unless they figure out a way to change SOUND... might happen the way things are going.

I want details please. What made it sound better to you? Where did you hear it? Did it sound a LOT better (worth it to have 8 AD's of the Mytek's as opposed to 16 of the Apogee's for the same price?) than the apogee stuff? Did you use an external clock? What mics/pre's where you listening to if any? Just whatever you can think of that would add to me understanding your viewpoint a little better.

Thanks to all.
