Hey, I was just wondering what VST's you all use for straight in guitar sounds, especially distorted effects, and what you'd recommend? I have one which is decent, but it lags my computer like nothing else when I put it on multiple guitar tracvks, and it's not ideal for every song I'm doing, it's a bit heavy overdrivey. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the heads up. I can't record with my amp cos one it's at my drummer's place and its a bitch to lug over, but also I live in NYC in a tiny apartment building and unless I can crank it it's not worth it.
And I want to see how good purely digital/straight in recordings I can get.
what i use most of the time is a combination of amplitube metal
what i use most of the time is a combination of amplitube metal and line6 pod farm. sometimes some amplitube fender. depends on the song and sound i'm after.
amplitube is great. pod farm is great, too. don't like guitar rig very much though. but i've heard good things about peavey's revalver mkIII, especially for metal sounds.
i think it's a matter of personal taste. download the demos from their website. that should give you an idea of what they sound like, and then decide for yourself.

hello- i think maybe you should look at Line 6 Pod xt pro. I find it better than any plugins. plus it has a software controller that you can control the box with. nothing beats a 57 in front of an amp, but pod does kinds sorta get in the same ballpark

hey there. is there a reason why you're using vst effects for guitar distortion? personally, i think you'll be more satisfied with putting a dynamic mic in front of your amp and double tracking...but if that's not an option for you, i've heard decent results from Line 6's Amp Farm....
