Does anyone have any experience with Cakewalk's Guitar Pro Tracks 3? I have been looking at this for the recording software in a PC based system.

My home recording based experience has been limited to a Tascam Portastudio 488 (cassette based) for many years, but now I would like to venture up so to speak.

My recording needs are fairly simple: recording one to two tracks at one time. I will be using an old Alesis digital drum machine and playing all the instruments myself. The idea of being able to record on more than 8 tracks is exciting. I have no plans on ever trying to record someone else. The Cakewalk program's visuals sort of resemble the hardware on my 488 which is comforting since I've never done any PC based recording.

Perhaps I should explore more studio-in-a-box systems. Any thoughts?
