I have been messing around with my Mode 4 for a long time now and still am not getting the tone i really want. AMp 1 (clean and crunch modes) seem to be to hollow sounding with no character. Where as Amp 2 (OD1 and OD2) seem to have almost too much low-end and thickness and fuzz. I dont use any pedals, I plug staright in and go. Im looking for that hi-gain, bright, with a little thickness tone you hear in the majority of metal/rock bands today. If anyone has any, I mean ANY suggestions on what I can do, I would greatley appreciate it. How to set my bass, middle, treble, presence, resonance levels, any pedals, new amp head? etc. Any info will help.

Sorry to say it man, but the amp is an EXTREMELY overpriced lemon. The problems you're describing are just one of the things to expect from a SS-poweramp, regardless of what Marshall's marketing department will have you believe. The powerful, in-your-face punchyness of modern rock/metal guitars is a signature of a cranked tube-poweramp. Mesa Rectifier, Marshall JCM2000/JCM900 and Peavey 5150 amps are responsible for the majority of modern rock/metal tones. If that's the tone you're after, no amount of EQ tweaking on the MF is going to get it for you.
Sell/return it and get the real deal.
