Hi everyone,

I'm the singer/guitarist of a new alternative mathy rock band from Bristol, UK. We've been doing some "bedroom" recordings for demos.

I've been working on the mix for this new demo... I was wondering how I could improve it. Bare in mind that I cannot change the intrinsic drum mix, as that was mixed at the recording stage (which is a shame because the cymbals are too loud.)

Thanks!

Well, it's got potential, but before you do any more on the mixing, I think you have to consider re-recording some of the tracks, as there is a lack of synchrony between the upper parts and the drums. It's not something you can fix in the mix.

Think hard about what it is that is allowing you to get out of time (usually ahead). Is your headphone monitoring not up to scratch? Are you too tense during the tracking? Are you tracking the guitars too loud so you lose the drum rhythm? Do your equations not have real solutions?
