Hi I`m a norwegian neewbie.

I`m about to by a serious amount of new goodies.

My soundcard choice has fallen upon the PreSonus firepod, which gives me all the innputs that I need.

Now choosing mics and monitors seems to be a bit harder.

So is there anyone out there who give a some recomandations
Please bear in mind that I am a newbie and I`m on a bugdet.

The mics I want get is drum mics (phrehaps a set)
A couple of instrument mics maybee Shure sm57.
and a good condenser mic ear marked for vocal.
that should cover my needs

and last; any us webshops to recomend, the prices are insanely expencive over here, Only the firepod alone is 1300 us dollars,
most us websites I have seen sells it for half the price.

I woild like to make my purchases from one shop.

Thanks

here the pod is 679 euros!

don't go for quantity! go for quality! from your posts we can all see you are very young in recording experience! don't think that, like you've said, a samson 7 piece mic will be good for drums! i'd go with sm-57 any day over those! take a look at maybe a akg d112, 2 sm57, and audia technica stuff!
as for monitors and stuff tell us more!
where is your space, don't forget cabling and stands cost big bucks too, as well as good acoustic treatment!
so... give us your budget and what you'll be recording!

some more info...

I plan to move quite soon, and when selecting a home, I will go for a home that can house my studio, so I`m not buying anything untill then.
I have a few prospects in my scope, and they both have a big square room that I can use.
And I will try to do some acaustic treatment to the room.
But again I`m far from a proffesional teqhnican, my field is songwriting, but hey we all gotta start somewhere.

The music I will be making; No one likes to put them self into a booth musically, but not me.
I love it, abd its called Prog rock, and not new progmetal, but classic Yes,Genesis,Jethro,Crimson and giant Prog.

I should go for analoug equipment to get that classical 70`s sound
But a wife and a tight wallet makes that a bit hard.

So I`m going for a digital solution.

My bugdet limit is 3000 us dollars (2300 euro)

http://www.sweetwater.com for a place to buy. They sell/ship to everywhere. The prices are extremely competitive and fair. As far as drum mics go, shure makes a a few decent beginning kits that sound really good. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PGDMK6XLR/
They also make a four mic package. Also, throw in some sm57's or some beta 57's. What software are you looking to use?
