Hi,
i'm using an Akai DR8 for producing ads for radio and have noticed a "shrinking" of the stereo image, when recording a track onto the unit for editing purposes.
Is this a result of the A/D converters?
Thanx!

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The setup i'm using consists of running out of a CD player through an Arrakis systems mixer, then into the DR8. My concern is this: when i'm using sound effects from a CD, at first listen, the stereo image is great. Once i dump the track onto the DR8
and listen back, i do notice a considerable difference in the image.
Maybe i'm being a bit too "anal"?
Thanks again.

I'm not familiar with that console (or any broadcast consoles for that matter). Assuming that's not doing anything weird to the signal on the way to or returning from the DR8... it could be attributable to a wiring problem, or it could be a slight level mis-match, or it could be a clocking problem with the DR8, or it could just be the way the DR8 sounds. Can you plug the CD directly into the DR8 and see if that detrimentally affects the quality?
