I'm still trying trying to aI'm my drum sound towards that recording you posted a few weeks ago. so just wondering what your actual setup was...

Hey Mr Tony,

I used the mic pres on my mackie onyx 800r for drums.
My mic set up is fairly simple:
Kick:
Audix D6 inside (centered hole.use plastic beater with kick pad, dampen kick with one pillow, place mic in the center kick drum and half the distance the depth of the kick. This how i remember the placement but it may not work for you.
SP C1 outside (to find distance take a cig. lighter and move it towards the hole on the kick until the flame goes out and place the mic directly behind that spot)
Snare: Audix D1
Hi Tom: Audix D2
Floor Tom: Audix D4
OH: SP C4s

I just bought a pair of Bricks. I might try them out on kick and snare the next time I do drums but who knows I might like the onyxs better. I just got to do a quick shoot out. For instance, a girl I just recorded I like the onyx's better on her voice with the SP C1 than the brack. However, the brick worked better with a C4 on acoustic for a more focused sound than then C4 with the Onyx.
