Thanks. I was kind of hoping you could elaborate on your experience with the console. How did it sound, etc.? I have the opportunity and the means to get one, but I don't know anything about them.

Intense Audio who rebuilt my 2" machine has one in their studio. They have a series of mods for the different models. There were different eq frequencies on different models. You can reach them at elixir@negia.net

I've worked on the 532. It has been a while, but my over-all impression was that it passed bottom relatively well, but the clarity on the top left a lot to be desired. It was not "sweet" by any stretch. The mic amps seemed a bit too slow for drums and perc, and the eq's, while flexible for the day, didn't knock me over.

I've not worked on one since the "digital revolution," so maybe some of these characteristics may be desirable with a digital deck/mdms/hd recording system.

To get an idea of the tone of this console, think "Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding.
Egg studio here in Seattle has the board out of the old Stax/Volt in Memphis, and I can almost see the ghost of Otis...

Auditronics 532 Console

I'm also trying to get info on a older 532 console I have. The power supplies need some work and I want to convert the automation control from tape to smpte or something else I can use with pro tools or other formats. Thanks, Chad
