So I need a headphone amp to run 4 sets of 'phones this weekend. I ordered a B******r AMP800 online, mainly for the low price and the fact that their headphone amps seem to be the only products they offer that don't get regularly shredded here on RO.

Well, the shipment is delayed (UPS, probably weather related) so they won't be in until Monday. On to Plan B - drove over to Guitar Center. They didn't have the B*****r, but they did have a CME Audio Matrix Y on clearance (reg $100, sale $50). So I got it and will probably return the AMP800, since I don't really need both and can't return a clearance item unless it is defective (haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it works :) ).

The thing is, I don't know much about what I just bought. A search here didn't turn up much. Not that it will change much, but can anyone tell me anything about this device, good or bad? Should I be psyched about a great deal or should I have saved my money?

Well, after playing with it a bit last night, things started fine but then the 4th channel just broke out in a really bad case of static. The noise was independent of the gain on that channel, and 1-3 were fine. So maybe that's why it was 50% off?

I'll live with it for this weekend (I can get by with only using 1-3), but I'll probably return it once the B***#$%*R arrives.

Anyone else have experience with this?
