Hi guys, I have a few questions and hoped maybe somebody can shed some light.

I just just recieved my new soundcard today (haven't installed it yet) its an Emu 1212m. I have a Korg D1600 digital 16 track recorder at home.
The 1212m doesn't have mic inputs so I want to use the mic inputs from my Korg and then input that to my PC.
Is there a way to connect my Korg to my PC so that I can send the actual WAV file. The Korg has S/PDIF I/O and SCSI.
I don't have to ability to connect with SCSI as yet but If this is the only way I will. and if I do, How?
I'm still not sure what this whole S/PDIF is. Does that mean I can send digital data through this or is it just an audio signal sent digitally.

one more question... sorry
If I was to connect my Korg to my 1212m through S/PDIF does that mean that I could just record on the computer and If so would the quality be any good?

Thank you for your time it is greatly appreciated.

By connecting your Korg to your computer via the ADAT lightpipe the computer should see the Korg as an ADAT unit (a multitrack tape recorder). It looks like your 1212 has S/PDIF and ADAT capabilities. You should be able to use either of these to get your Korg's files into your PC. Your manual should tell you how to do it. You will probably want to set your PC as the master clock. Perhaps someone with more experience with all in one studios could be of more help as I don't have much experience with them. RO also has a powerful search engine you could try as this topic may have already been discussed.

ADAT = Alesis Digital Audio Tape (I think)
S/PDIF = Sony/Phillips Digital Interface

Good Luck

OK, just thought I'd update this. So I connected my D1600 to my soundcard using the optical S/Pdif. It sounds great, no loss in quality at all.
I am unable to transfer any files across though? this probably sounds a bit stupid but, is the only way I can transfer my files from the D1600 to my pc by burning the files onto a disc?
And just a quick question, is the sound quality going to be just as good if I was to record the audio onto my PC through the optical out, or would I be better of to burn the WAV file onton CD and just import it onto the PC?
