I have a basic karaoke system and now I want to add a good digital recorder to my system so I can record our songs. Output will come from my mixer then to the recorder.
Question, Is there a way to record my songs per channel? Say I have 2x mics and 1x karaoke player = 3x separate channels? So the voice will be separated from the music? My Zed10fx mixer has a USB output so i dont know if this is possible. If not, then I guess I will just record everything at once. I am after quality and the simpler it is the better. Just push record then stop. It would be a big plus if it has a remote or can be controlled via wifi.
Mixer = Zed10fx (but i am thinking of changing it to Soundcraft MXFi8)
Mics = Shure SM58

I am actually looking at the Zoom H4N and the Tascam DR-100MKII right now. Is the H4N better than the DR-100MKII?
If I remove the mic from the Zed10Fx and put it in the Zoom, then there will be no voice coming out of the speakers. What I actually want is to record our karaoke performance when my friends come over during our weekend parties. I want to actually do it in the background without them knowing it then I will compile the songs then make them a copy of our karaoke session in a DVD.
I understand that this can be done by just getting a stereo output from the zed mixer but if possible I want the vocals to be separated so I can try to put some effects to it (im a noob but I'd sure like to learn how to put reverbs, compression and EQ the vocals).
I am thinking of changing to soundcraft MFXi due to the following:
- better preamps
- better effects from lexicon
- It has insert so I can put a compression filter eventually
- It has insert so I can put a feedback eliminator eventually
(The downside is, it has no USB thus I can't put a computer for recording)
Hmmmm. Do I use the feedback eliminator in the insert or at the main output of the mixer? Once I use the compressor in the insert, i cannot put a feedback eliminator in the insert already right?
