I've been spending all morning trying to format my audio drive. I've been trying to do it using win2k's administrative tools, (FAT32 with 64k clusters). Everything seems to go alright untill it's done formatting (takes forever) when it tells me the volume is too large.
The drive is a WD120GB.
The Opus tweaks for Win2k talk a little about formatting it with the boot disk, but when I try to do that it just wants to reinstall Windows.
Anyone have any suggestions? :confused:

IS is possible to run large drives in fat 32 Opus?
I run dual drives, one for op and computer crap, on for starage and audio and I keep a 3rd in the box loose (well bolted down) that I do backup on in case of a problem. Do it once every other day. At 10K+ RPM, Quick as well!

I did some checking online and it seems NTFS only lags behind FAT32 by 10% (worst case) in performance. So, Yea, I think I'll go with that.
Again, thanks for letting me know about FAT32, otherwise I probably would've ended up setting fire to My ANUS instead of painting flames on it. LOL :D (I get a bit angry with technology sometimes) At least there's pleanty of support with this stuff, unlike most of the analog gear I have.

There is no performance difference in all reality between NTFS and FAT32. The only main difference is security with NTFS on a networked system or on a server machine. Plain and simple.
You can format a drive larger than 32GB on Fat32...you just need to do it in FDISK so you will need to use a 98SE CDROM or a 98 Boot disk of some sort to get there!
