**Edit** my apologies, I posted this subject twice accidentally - forgot that I hit the forum with this question.

Hi,

I do v/o productions that are longer in length and would like to find a sidechain compressor that has the ability to look ahead and drop the audio down slowly (compress) before the v/o comes in. The release should also graduate up slowly. Now when I say slowly I need the fade in/out to be just under 2 seconds on each side of the v/o. I am currently using 'SlI'm Slow Slider' which almost does the job - The attack max is only 100ms and the Release goes up to 1000ms. The release is PERFECT but the 100ms attack is a bit to quick. I've scanned the web looking for a compressor that does side chain and am amazed at how little there are that do this.

If you know of one, and even if you don't know if it has a long attack please give me the name or web site of it.

Thanks!

My apologies - you are correct. What I did what post this question on many forums and forgot that I already hit Recording.org. I will try to delete one of them. And just an FYI I have put time and effort into finding a solution well before coming to the forums to ask

No apology needed.

If you're just looking for a compressor with longer Attack I'm sure there are a number of them out there. I use the Waves Renaissance Compressor, which has Attack up to 500ms and Release up to 5000ms.

Another idea that might help is to clone the vocal track slide it forward a half second and key the compressor from the one that's cheated ahead (but routed out of the mix).

Just a thought...

Anyway, good luck.

That'll work but you still have a 100ms attack - it's just that the attack is now coming in earlier.

ReaComp from the Reaper plugin pack does 5000ms release and ... *checks* 500ms attack, with 250ms "pre-comp" option. Sort of like automatically pulling the track forward (note that it does cause equal delay in the output so the host better support plugin delay compensation).

Hey Waves has the C6 now which is like the C4 but with 2 more bands and a sidechain. I don't know if it does exactly what you need it to but they say it's good for post production.
