I just got the Tascam US-122L USB Interface and everything works fine except for one thing: When I plug my Line 6 Spider 3 amp into the interface, I get a humming-static. I'm using the "POD" style output from the amp, so it should work fine, but even if the amp is OFF, it still makes the noise when plugged in.
You can hear the guitar, and if I turn the input on the interface way down and the level on the amp up, it's not as bad, but it's still there and not good for recording.
Nothing else that I plugin gets that noise. I'm using Vista and Cubase (I know, I know) incase it matters, but like I said, everything else works fine.

I think you're on to something- I tried the Tascam in my desktop, no noise. The noise was coming from a laptop setup. I'll try just using the battery and switching the wall sockets that I'm using.
The Tascam is USB powered. Ill give your suggestions a try- hopefully that will also eliminate the random pops and crackles that it was picking up as well.

Well Kapt. Krunch, you were right. I unplugged the power cord to the laptop and the noise went away. However, when I switched wall sockets, there was no improvement. I guess I'm stuck recording certain instruments without wall power, but that's fine, a little annoying, but fine.

There are some other posts (some fairly recent) about laptops causing problems around here someplace. Seems to be a fairly common occurence. Has to do with the laptops' supplies.
You may want to search the forums for "noisy laptop", or just "laptop", and any other terms. I seem to remember some threads had ideas about how to eliminate the noise, and still have it plugged in.
Or, maybe someone else will stumble across this, and remembers where those posts were?

Is the amp plugged into the same circuit as the computer?
Is your computer a laptop? If so, try running on batteries to test, with the AC adapter unplugged.
Is the Tascam running off USB or wall-wart power? Is that plugged into the same circuit as amp and computer, if wall-wart?
Assess your power situation, and let us know if you find anything?
