Hey guys, i just wanted to pick your minds a little more:
I have a cable that I got with a $30 mic in highschool. Its an XLR to 1/2" cable. and right now I'm doing some home recording and am a little short on cash and XLR cables.
Should I use that cable? Im going to do some tests on my own, but i just dont feel that my ears are at a level yet to really tell a diferance. It dosnt need phantom power which kind of freaked me out.
Thanks a lot guys. and oh yeah. I may not have a lot of posts, but i'm on this forum all the time. It has really been a great place for my introduction into the recording world.

maybe it's and american thing but I'm not familier with 1/2 inch cable or maybe you mean 1/2 inch plug. Type of microphone depends on whether or not you need Phanton power . If it works with out phantom power its not a condenser microphone and at 30 dollars is another clue.yOUR MIC IS PROBABLY A dynamic cardiod ?
Result will be ok to play around with it and you shouldn't hurt anything as long as you dont plug it into an electrical socket. Remember to turn down everything when you first plug something in. Good luck.
ps; get an XLR to XLR as soon as possible to get the best results.
And Maybe you wanted to say xlr to 1/4 inch jackplug ?
