I just recently worked on a project for a band that will remain nameless. They are on a major label (have sold about 10 million records) and I got the gig by knowing a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy. I did the project expecting credit only to build the old Resume, but it turns out they are paying me as well. My question is, as these projects start to roll in, what is the day rate or hourly rate of you top notch Pro Tools guys?

As a gigolo, it depends entirely on what your six-pack looks like, and what your "package" weighs in at...not to mention your abilities in the sushi consumption dept.

Basically, as much as you can. As much as you can get away with. There are many factors at play here, but the main one is ongoing royalties. In many cases, it would be worth sacrificing some upfront income for some ongoing cream.
If you were working on this project with someone else, ask them what they are getting paid, and how much you should charge.

Well, my production company does beats for very known artists like, Most recently, "Dem Franchize Boys". And for there recording it was 50 dollars an hour. I'm no music guru ok, haha, but that's like standard from what I've seen.
I don't know though, prices may be more since it's a different genre and Hip Hop isn't as tedious as other genres when it comes to recording.
