I wanna give my guitarsound a bit of a tube sound. But i dont have the money to get myself a good tubeamp. I own a Pod XT, which i think it sounds good, not perfect but good. Is it a good idea to setup a tubepreamp like a mic. preamp or a tube compressor behind the XT? Ive saw some a Focusrite which looks very nice.

I assume you have an amp of some sort. Try running the Pod through a cheap combo amp or some speaker cab and miking it and then go into the tube pre and into your recording rig. I'm willing to bit you will get a much better sound than just going straight in. Experiment. Some of the biggest guitar sounds I have ever got are from a cheapy 1x15 practice amp and a boss gt-6 (similar to pod). I have 4x12's but often the 1x15 gives you an easier time with mic setup than a 4x12.

Might I suggest you give trial run(s) first before you commit to purchasing any setup?
If you are searching for a particular sound, then just keep experimenting until you find what you are looking for.
I've got the XT also (it's what Jeff Beck says he uses for his recording rig, so it must be okay), I do warm it up w/ some plug ins (PSP comes to mind). Seems to work pretty well. I also occasionally take the original sound and twist it beyond all recognition with other effects too. It depends on what works for a particular piece.
I wouldn't fret too much about the gear you use to make a sound. Concentrate more on working the sound itself. Different gear just makes different sounds.
