I need a cheap simple rackmount mixer for say... 6 to 12 stereo pairs (12 to 24 channels total). I don't need lotsa aux sends, I don't need lotsa EQ, just clean and not a lot of rack real estate.

I am going to use this in my studio, but not for my recording signal path, just my quick and dirty hear-everything-at-once device.

Mackie LM 3204 is too many rack spaces. I starting to look at Behringer, which scares me to death with its cheap crappery. Same for Rolls. Anything else I should look at? Used is okay too...

Thanks,

For what you want it for the Behringer or a Mackie may be just what the doctor ordered..

I use a Macke SR24 vlz to monitor my DAW while I track and to mix headphones..

I am sure a Behringer will be fine for this also. Its not like you are going to be using all the faders all the time and sound quality is not so much of an issue in this situation.. and you save your cash for higher quality mics and pres where it matters most..

I have to say I agree with Kurt. I use a Behringer MX1804 for mostly live use hearing what I have going on in my home studio. It very cost effective will hold up as long as your not abusive to it. Mine is almost two years old and still no problem. I have even used it for creating midi and some small amounts of live recording for samples of a few friends bands for them to use to find better compnies to record their music. I use mostly Shure mics and few astatic mics.

Todzilla,
Check this out! [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.speck.co…"]Speck LiLo[/]="http://www.speck.co…"]Speck LiLo[/]. It's desktop, not rack mount though. Clueless posted this in another thread recently and as I was reading it your question came to mind, so I thought i would put it up here too.. Vince at Speck has some great stuff in the mid price range and it all is worth looking at. I had some of Specks pieces here this last summer and I loved them!

Too late. I already Behring'ed. I got the 1608 Eurotrash Pro Mixer. I figure for $99, to mix 16 inputs into a stereo out, with an aux send and +4/-10 variables, even if it sucks out loud, I can look elsewhere.

Plus, the Ashley is the next step up, but it's $600. Jeesh.

I'll letcha know how she flies...
