hi,

Well my problem is that everytime I am trying to sync
my 2408mk1 to ext sync(spdif) it makes horrible noises like a jet,or spaceship,or a broken radio .
I locks for a sec but then it looses the sync.
I have try many S/PDIF devices but I always get the same results.
and several cords as well.
Also the spare at out.

please help!

Well, setting the device to use the internal clock is unfortunately not going to help if the intention is to lock the system to an external clock ... .

I agree, however, that the issue has to do with the driver or control settings of your device. It needs to be told to be "listening" to the external device. If this is not working correctly you will hear the "jets blasting" which is just white noise stemming from a misalignment of the bytes (in other words, the system randomly and incorrectly decides which bytes form a sample and thus plays garbage).

I am not familiar with the MOTU but look in your driver or control software settings (unless, of course, the device has a hardware switch to select the clock source).

Hope this helps,

MisterBlue.

MisterBlue,
What I was suggesting to Yiannis is that if he wants to lock his motu to an external piece of gear, then he needs to set the external piece of gear to lock to its (the external piece of gear's) own internal clock.

check the clock settings on your other gear. Make sure its set to use its internal clock.

Other gear meaning other gear besides the motu.
