I'm looking for information on USB Faders or Firewire

i've tried to search the net i can only find the one by Behringer . i dont need the mixer.. i just need faders.. motorized .. to work with cubase..

if any of you guys know a good model or something that might fit the above question please let me know..

i would prefer firewire.. but usb will do..

budget really isn't an issue.. but i still want the best for my dollar.. what i dont get is why they are so expensive.. you would think they would be cheaper.. cuz its not actually a mixer..

anyways..

should i think about motors dieing on me? .. the tascam is very nice looking and prolly has some good history behind it.. but at the same time.. will the cooper or behringer do the same thing.. ??

i know behringer sux for anything where a signal is being passed through.. but in this case .?? i dunno..

what is your input?

Believe it or not the JL Cooper is the one with the longest track record. It does interface via MIDI though not USB or Firewire. As for my personal experience? I used the JL Cooper once and never used any type of control surface for an extended period. Here is another thread that might interest you:

i read that other thread.... it seems hella usefull.. jogging.. mixing.. etc.. but he also mentions that the led's break down.. etc..

wtf.. i cant deal with something that is going to break down all the time.. and if one of the motors go. i'm screwed..

i'll have to do some more research.. ugh..

I've heard that the Tascam, while being a decent unit, has a wierd feel to it with the faders, and that they're more like the faders on the digi 002. I like the Mackie, but I really wish there was a decent medium format control surface like Digi's new D-Command, but for software other than ProTools.
