Apollo quad firewire interface. Taking the plunge!
I've taken the plunge... I found a Apollo Quad firewire going for only £1290 on ebay, 8 mths old like new. I figure since I am not going to spend an awful lot more these days, that's going to be a BIG upgrade from my MOTU Traveller MK3, along with the fact I also have the UAD2 Quad PCIe card in my Mac Pro already. Also, down the track, I can fit a Thunderbolt interface into the Apollo if wanted :D.
FireWire vs. Thunderbolt
i currently use a Focusrite Safire pro 40 interface. My MBP is quite capable; it's a good one. Would I find any significant benefit in sound quality by upgrading to a Focusrite clarett thunderbolt ?

Thunderbolt to FireWire (audio interface)
Hi,
I'm upgrading to MacPro with Thunderbolt. I wish to recording with my faithful PreSonus Firepod (Firewire 400).
Question:
Can I use Thunderbolt to Firewire Adaptor to fire up my Firepod? It works?

Midas F32 - Windows 10 Firewire problem
Hi. first ever post.
the guitarist/sound guy in my band recently bought a Midas F32 console, and is having trouble connecting it to Pro Tools via firewire.
his laptop is running 64bit Windows 10, and he's connecting via 6 to 6 pin firewire cable. the Midas Firewire Control Panel program will pick up the console intermittently but then lose it again, which leads me to assume that this is not a software problem, but that's just a guess.
if anybody has solved a similar problem, or needs more information to try to solve this one, all relevant replies appreciated!

Prism Sound Orpehus FireWire Recording Interface.
Hi, selling my friends Prism Sound Orpheus FireWire Recording Interface. The device is in perfect working order and in spite of some mild rack usage signs (tiny scratches on top and bottom) is great to look at. My friend was it's second owner. He decided to sell it because he got hooked on Hi-End AD/DA and now want's to upgrade to more channels.

FireWire 800 Card for Windows
Looks like I need to upgrade my Windows box, I need a PCI FW 800 card, and/or is a PCIe the better slot. If I don't need to take an addition PCIe, I would save that for something else.
Any recommendations? I've never bought something like this, do I just go to my local Computer store?

Firewire Pci card questions
How good are the various FW cards for PC slots?
I have a good, fast machine, but there's no FW interface on it, and I have access to a few pieces of gear that use FW as the connection that I'd like to try.
Goals:
To be able to use one or all of the following:
FW based multi-channel audio I/O, such as the PreSonus Studio/Live desk
Focusrite multi-channel preamp/ I/O
MOTU Midi/Audio I/O - ADC/DAC

PreSonus Audiobox USB vs. Firestudio Mobile? AND USB vs. Firewire for Recording?
Hey guys. I got myself a Firestudio Mobile a couple of years ago but now I'm set to upgrade my computer to something which won't have inputs for Firewire or even the Express card I've been using on my current computer for recording. It will have USB 3.0 inputs. I'm kind of steamed at having to replace my soon to be useless Firestudio Mobile with the basically equivalent Audiobox USB, but it is what it is. It seems to be that Firewire as a medium is getting phased out due to lack of support/interest.
