hi all

Lately I have been doing more live or mobile recording. I have been using a small "all in one box" for live stuff with relatively good results, but find I need up to 24 channels more and more. I am tracking to a Radar 24 Classic in the studio, and have been wanting to take the Radar out for live recording. My studio board is a new Yamaha O2R96 - too much trouble to take that out for live - I am looking for recommendations for a 24 channel board (or 2 boards - 8 and 16 channel in case I don't need a bigger 24 channel board on some occasions) with decent pres. With the Radar in live applications I am looking to stay with analog boards.

Also looking for a minimum 24 channel board for monitoring the live recording - this could be a very cheap board with crappy pres, as it is only for monitoring the sound that hits the Radar. All final mixing will still be done in the studio.

thanks
Dan

The Soundcraft M12 is a nice little board with pretty good sounding pre amps and EQ. It has a digital out as well. Also, the Soundcraft LX7 24 is a great board for the buck. Then there's the Phoenix (formally Studiomaster) pro series cconsoles which are very good sounding boards. A&H mix wiz or GL series. I tend to lean towards the British designed boards for the pre-amps and EQ's. The Midas Venice is a steal for what you get if you can afford a little more. You would not believe how good they really sound. If there is a store you could compare them that would be great. If not and you can wait Kurt will more than likely be getting the Venice real soon for review and he can tell you the in's and out's of the board. After using one for almost a year now I love the little guy and feel sure you guys will too. Anyway, good luck and hope this helps.

Cheers,
