We have a wiki now.

You may have noticed, we have a Wiki Pro Audio incorporated into the forums now. I have no idea how it all works or if we are going to keep it. I'm anticipating it works better than it appears at first glance. I'm also anticipating we create a Wiki Group that will take the project on. I am slammed with no room for more on my plate so I'm going to need help from the group. I believe Jeemy is head of this?

Here is a link to the initial setup (which we have completed with the professional support of VaultWiki ) see: [="http://www.vaultwiki.org/manual/Initial-Setup"]Initial Setup - VaultWiki - Wiki for vBulletin Forums[/]="http://www.vaultwik…"]Initial Setup - VaultWiki - Wiki for vBulletin Forums[/] to help understand what we have to do or why its added to the forums.
Here is their demo, which I think we should get to know via their site before we mess with our initial install here.

I'm sure we can change or remove the defualt categories or whatever to make it look and suit out community focus. Direct all questions to this thread, Jeemy or myself.

Cheers!

I don't claim to know how any of this works, but I am a member on another forum and the WIKI idea works this way. Anytime a topic (single word or phrase) is used a hyperlink to the WIKI explanation is automatically created once the explanation is created. Whenever new topics come up (which will be often at first) a mod or webmaster requests someone give a detailed explanation of that topic so that readers can access that glossary/encyclopedia explanation by searching the WIKI source or by accessing the hyperlink.

It actually should help minimize the explanation type posts - like how do you set up M/S? or what is gain staging?

I think it could be really helpful

Manual is here: [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.vaultwik…"]VaultWiki Manual - VaultWiki - Wiki for vBulletin Forums[/]="http://www.vaultwik…"]VaultWiki Manual - VaultWiki - Wiki for vBulletin Forums[/]

Give this 24 hours guys, we'll get some meaningful headers set up so it makes a bit more sense.

The first thing I'm trying to understand is what the
Header for Category is? at every Post New Thread

These are placeholders for the Forum headers - i.e. in Mics your header might be 'A section in which we discuss mics'. Once you give me access to the control panel we can add and remove these forum-by-forum.

Are we able to ( edit or tag) older threads?

See my PM. Not sure at this stage whether tags from forum threads share a database with wiki tags, I sure hope so. Need access before I can do this.

The layout looks pretty cool and I think we should make its presence a little better known to the RO membership. Perhaps a sticky on the newcomer forum???

I'm not sure how to add anything and don't have a lot of time to look into the directions that Jeemy pointed to. I think if we can tweek it and it automatically links then its a good thing.

Thanks for all you do for this site Chris!

Phil - please check the 'Idiot's Guide to Wiki' thread, and the glossary which Chris will fix back to the way it was. Easy first task is to get my 'Direct Inject' topic, copy the layout and head from A to Z and fill out the basics. I'm hoping for a lot of moderator help to get content there - Wiki format is meaningless without content - and as soon as we fill A to Z (a metaphor for all our lives) we can get this open to members and start filling it fast.
