Fishing for D8B feedback...
I've tried the D8B out, and attended a clinic... and I love the feel and
layout of the board and software. I've narrowed down an upcoming purchase to
the Mackie D8B and HDR2496 combo. I've seen a lot of people steered away from
the D8B (in a few different forums), but the reason is usually price and

Do you have one near you?
Yesterday I went to a Sam Ash music store to pick up a mic. I went with a SM57 in mind. But, when I got there, I was slammed to the ground with the amount of mics I had to choose from. They had a rig set up with about 10-15 different mics just wait for someone to ts-ts-test them out. They had(from what I remember) some AKG's, Samson's, Shure's and quite a few others.

Is there any reason?
Hey Opus, where did that reason 2 post go?
Did you get your copy yet? Do you know the best price out there? (besides free/unless you wanna pm me!) ;)
And can you upgrade v1 for free?
I can't find it on the shelves anywhere around here. But MFriend has it for $279, is that good?
Boy, sure would be nice to know the right person... :p

Memory debate. .
Let's have at it folks...
I myself know and believe that Non-ECC Ram is better for audio applications which in my mind is not a server based operation.
Server based systems need the ECC Ram as they deal with a hell of a lot more data pull..correct?

Cassette Master Preservation - Please help
Good day everyone,
I have precious 20 year old cassette masters of my first original group, Zythum and I have been planning a 6 CD box set release that will be the first of it's kind. but more on that later.
I wish to transfer these tapes for permanent posperity. I have a Masterlink and I was thinking I would be alright with a few backups, includeing a couple of CD-24s.

TAXI
I've read their annoying ads and get their pesky e-mail newsletter on a weekly basis. I've researched their operation thoroughly and it all seems to add up, as I clearly understand what they do, and even more importantly, I understand what it is they don't.

Low freq bump on HPFs
Hi!, Í wanted to know if anybody could explain why is there a low freq. bump when applying HPF to sources on mixing. My experience is that sweeping on the low range I can find a cutoff freq that, not only removes energy, instead it increases presence.
In other words, by removing low freq rumble I actually can have more Low or mid low presence.

Another MOTU Question!
I decided to upgrade my computer by putting in a second processor . . . a Pentium III 733.
Know that prior to this installation, everything was working fine.
Well . . . the MOTU (USB version) Midi Timepiece AV would not work correctly with a second processor. Doesn't anyone have any idea why? Is there a work-a-round to make it work.
