Is this legit?
Whats going on? I know I'm new to the forum and all, but I've been in the game for so long, man, I'm kinda getting fed up with everyone telling me to get a real job. I just want to be heard, you know! I'm damn good at the controls, and I write my own stuff (I'm sure most of you guys do to!) Do any of you guys have any tips on getting my stuff heard?

Steinberg's XP Install Doc
They mention to do the following
1) Disable all shadow features(what the heck is that?)
2) Disable onboard sound cards. Will these acutually cause trouble? I like to use the onboard for listening to mixes. Sorta like the car stereo type thing. But if this is really a potential for problem, I should ditch it.

Strategies obliques
This is the name(in french) of a set of playing cards by Brian Eno who are supposed to help your creativity when you're stuck (for example assign the drum prog to another instrument..),but I was just thinking that many times great creativity comes from errors(Is it called serendipity?) do you have such experience and do you have strategies to let "errors" happen.

Mackie SDR 2496 / Alesis HD24
If anyone has experience with the Mackie SDR2496 and/or Alesis HD24, could you please let me know what you think of their sound quality? Also, is the device stable? Does it crash occasionally? If you've used both, which one do you like better? Any advice will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Anyone using AT 4033 for Drum OH's?
Hi! My subject pretty much sums it up. I've been using AT 4041's for this application but thought I'd like to try a LD condenser and since I already own 1 4033 I was thinking about picking up another and trying them instead. Any of you folks using/have used 4033's in this manner? If so how do you like them as drum OH mics? Thanks very much in advance!

Pro vs. . Home Mastering
Its funny how people always say you should send your stuff to the pro's but I've heard some work out of mastering houses that are crappy . They say these mastering house have high-endequipment so tell me how can they make a product worse . Out of respect for these engineers I wont mention the famous mastering house .
