anyone using the MOTU 1296 ?
Hi folks.
Does anyone use a MOTU 1296 ? How does it sound? Did you compare it with other interfaces? I am planning to upgrade to 24/96 and I need to choose between the 1296, the 896, the RME
and the Delta 1010. Please give me some feedback! What do you think? Whichone sounds best in your opinion?

Heads Up - RS clip on instrument mics
Since I know Harvey is partial to them, and a few others here are as well, I thought it'd be worth mentioning that Radio Shack has these mics on sale for $30 a pop. If nothing else, get a few and sell them to the next band that asks you if you can help them with their live setup ;)

Opus, not again
I see your post, about a new motherBoard. Yea it sounds impressive, but do you really need to build another one. I was just feeling good about having a system sorta equivalent to the "pros"

Why?
Why does copying a sample to a second track and then Panning to opposite side of the spectrum(an even amount) make the sample sound bigger. Why wouldn't it be the same as just leaving it in the center?

Sonar & ASIO
I know I have been gone for a while, just got back the other day(had to put in some overtime to work up that $24).
Anyway, I have been to the Sonar and Cubase forums, and noone has answered my posts in four days. Maybe I am spoiled by Opus in the computing forum, but that seems a bit long to me.
So here is my question.

Tiny crappy monitors...
Two questions here.
1) Jules has a boom box hardwired in for playback reference. I was thinking about doing the same... any guidlines or comments?

M147 or U87 for Vox?
Hi guys,
Firstly thanks to those of you who advised on a big band recording I had to do with limeted mics, was a great sucess, thanks! :p )
Budget will stretch to buying a U87 or an M147 for this purpose.
I am inclined to go for the M147, but would much appreciate any views on this.
Thanks

The most common mistakes?
I'd love to know what the pro's here, consider the most common mistakes that they hear new and inexperienced engineers making. Also what's the worst recording of a big name act you've heard? Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did do a search, but it's a difficult one to get the right keywords for.
