Hello guys, I'm one of those people tired of beign Digidesign's slave... I'm just curious about how many plugs are you guys using on your setups... I mean the: "I do 24 trks with 4 band EQ, compressors, 4 verbs... all the time" type of thing. If you can give any info on that, it'll be very helpful. Thanks :)

Last saturday I did a FOH job in a theatre for a well known jazz band.

They had rented a number of small Sanken microphones, I guess CU31 or 32 as I found out from the sanken website http://rtg.ch/sanken.htm and IMO they did a very good job on grand piano, clarinets and drum OH's.

I've read a few posts with users saying they have monitors out on loan for trial.
How does this work?Do you have to have a pro studio to qualify.
Obviously being able to spend a bit of time with monitors before buying is going to be the best way to make a decision.

A couple of questions about tracking.

Is it the standard practice, to record keyboards direct? Are keyboardist as anal about tone as guitar players? Are keyboard parts recorded with effects from the keyboard, or are they added later in the mix?

I'm going to be starting to burn CD's in a while, what's the preference for brand and stat's that are best to purchase?
