BIG PROBLEM? or maybe not. .need your help!
I have recorded a whole song on a Digi 001 Pro Tools LE system. I should also mention that this is my FIRST real recording and these recording are being done at my school. I've spent at least 100 or so hours on ONE SONG, but my problem started yesterday. After working all this time, my teacher comes in and says all my levels are to low. My faders are almost cranked to the max.

hum/noise from soundcard
I am going out of my mind! Can anyone help me out here?
I'm recording into a PC using a SoundBlaster Audigy card which is SUPPOSED to have a SNR of
-100db. (Yeah, RIGHT.) However, there is about -60db of noise. It's ridiculous. Even if I have nothing going into the soundcard's line in... Noise! White, pink and brown... It's all there. Along with a hearty dose of 60 cycle.

Signed artist with their own studio, self produced...How
Okay, so when labels have an artist who is self-produced, and owns their own studio...Do they budget any different? How do they approach that from a financial standpoint? Or more importantly, how does the artist/producer/studio owner approaches this financially?
Raw materials for cables
I have been wanting to make my own cables and have found various guides on the net describing how to do so, but I do not know where to purchase the raw materials -- connectors and cable. Can anyone point me to a reputable store on the net or in the San Fransisco / Bay Area? Thank you.

DREAM Systems
Anyone been on one of the DREAM systems yet? I talked to a Fairlight Rep today, and he said that they're much faster to edit on. True?
They definitely look pretty cool on the Fairlight site. And I imagine that they ain't cheap!
Is the DREAM Satellite just a MFX 3.48 on steroids, or is it another animal altogether?

Newbie Blues...
I just picked up a P4 1.7 Ghz PC with fairly good hardware but I have just a Soundblaster PCI 128 as a sound card. I realize in the future that I'll need to purchase something(sound card)more powerful to really do some damage but I just wanted to get things on the road for the time being.

456 vs. . GP9
I know this has been brought up before, but its been awhile. In past posts I've read about the GP9, "looping back". What exactly does this mean?
Can my Otari MX5050-8 handle GP9?
Thanks,
Robert
