I have a DAW studio and I'm new to sync issues. I wanted to know what options are available for good sync, mtc, & mmc. My question is, are the MTP AV & Midi Express XT the same or equal. I hear the MTP AV does more. Can some one explain these two pieces to me. Thanks RO members.

I am about to go out and drop some bucks on a harward input device for Cubase. I am currently using Cubase and the Tascam US-428.

I have narrowed my options to:

Ehco's Layla and Aardvark's Q10. (I am leaning towards the Layla).

OK to you play your mix then flip over to "The Next Big Thing's lastest CD or whatever you use as a bench mark...(this is caled A/Bing btw)

But the commercial CD is MASTERED! Your mix is NOT!

What if the commercial CD is WAY louder than your mix?

Is your CD player's output sound, one you can trust?

I just got my new board! A Soundcraft Spirit Auto made in 1993 and am SO very happy about it, (anyone want to buy a good used Topaz 24/8?).

So, here's my question: the board was made in 1993 and the automation software seems to be obsolute and/or unavailable. The manual states that it can be run by Cubase, JL Cooper stuff, Soundcarft software (mac only) as well as "any sequencer".

OK perhaps it's Madonna's nickname, but seriously what is MADI?

And what about that Euphonics box that connects everything to everything? How can it 'pretend to be a Digidesign interface"? Is that MADI too?

This is some serious digital sh*t, but still, we ARE talking about hardware boxes!
