Dithered tracks at mixdown?
Hi everybody,
If, while tracking, you dither down to 16 bit from an external converter to an MDM, or any digital multi for that matter, what are the cumulative affects of the dither at mixdown? Particularly UV22-HR.
Thanks,
Tim L

Home Studio Blues
With the dizzying array of home studio choices available these days, what would you recommend for someone who wants to record easy to use, album-quality (potential indie release) on the cheap? "All-in-ones" like the Roland VS or Yamaha approach, ADAT, or computer-based recording.

Marshall MXL-V67G vs. . Studio Projects C1
Bottom line; the'yre pretty damn close to each other in sound. The Studio Projects C1 is a little hotter (about 2 dB more output), and a little quieter (again, by about 2 dB). Overall, the frequency response is very similar, with maybe a -1dB shelf around 800 to 1,000 Hz on the Studio Projects C1. The Marshall MXL-V67G sounds slightly fuller, but again by a very small amount.

RE-remastering
here's a poser for you:
recently I acquired a fairly rare CD release of a late '60's movie soundtrack (i.e. "limited pressing"). The story behind the score is that (supposedly) sometime in the 70's the original master tapes were lost in a fire.

Reverbs...Fletcher's Fav's
Reading another thread I realized I haven't seen much of your opinions about reverb boxes.
I HAVE seen posts about rooms, chambers, etc... and I have seen a "..and that's why I've hated digital reverb" post.
Any suggestions for acoustically challenged tracking areas, vox dream machines, or whacky verbs?
Any MUST haves?

Help me to Decide
Gentlemen, I'm about to begin production in a Mac home studio and I wish to get some active nearfield monitors. The least expensive/most affordable (In Canada)have come down to the Yamaha MSP5 and the Roland DS50A ... I took a CD in and listended to both of them .
