tuning drums
how do you come up with the correct pitch for each drum?
basically i have been working the head until the sound "comes together". I'm new to REALLY tuning drums and would like to get better. ive read all the basics of tuning. when i finish with a head, they tend to [what i think] be pretty tight and high pitched for the sizes. [13x12/14x13/16x16 toms and 14x4 snare, 22x16 kick]

Buying a Mac, lotsa questions
hello,
I apologise in advance for the basic nature of these questions. Up until a few years ago
I had never used a computer, and since then
it has been all PC. I don't really need a
"racehorse" computer out of the box, but I would like to know it has good upgrade possibilities.

big dollar mic purchase
Due to a long expected "reorganization" at Universal, I will become free of any need to set an alarm clock as of June 30. The good news is that after 6 years I qualify for a small "buyout" that should allow me to add to the gear collection. I have held off on purchasing a large diaphragm condensor because I did not want to settle for something less than what I really wanted.

60 min vs. . 42 min ADATs in XT-20's
Hi-
Wondering if anyone had any experience using the longer (60 min) ADAT tape format in XT-20's. No marking on the shell for thinner stock that I can see. Using Maxell's, which have worked great in the 42 min. length.
Thanks-
Myles

Promote your mix, Sell your tunes, Promote your artists.
We all record music but when it comes down to promoting our actual music we write, mix etc. it seems to be the down fall of a lot of us. Self promotion! Well now's your chance to be cutting edge and do it or offer it to your client for next to nothing!

Tame the bleating sheep?
Hey,
I've come across this problem before, and still don't know what to do about it. I recorded a punk band w/female singer. The "singer" has limited abilities and a fairl monotone style. Know matter what mic/pre/position/etc. I tried during tracking, she came out sounding like a bleating sheep! --Thin, peaky, annoying.
