The ultimate patchbay-do I have to build it myself?
Forums
Here is my idea for the ideal patchbay, for me at least.
I'd like to have 1/4" TRS connectors on the front, normalled, switchable to un-normalled by solder, jumpers or switches. The back will have ELCO connectors, compatible with ADATs. From there I can also put 1/4" connectors on the ends of the ELCOs to interface to my equipment, ADA's, whatever.
Digital Summing
Forums
Mixerman, I find that your statement " the sound gets smaller the more sounds you put into it" rings a chord in my brain.
The really interesting thing is, lemme see if I can put this into words :)

Using outboard gear with Paris
Forums
Hello all,
I must say that this forum is certainly easier to navigate than the Paris users forum (I can't seem to access the newsgroup or search functions!) and I certainly appreciate much of the information that has been given thus far.

Cheap mic solutions
Forums
Hi all. First off, this forum rocks, and I'm adding to my newbie knowledge with every thread I read.
I'm learning to use Cubase VST on my mac at home. I currently have a cheapo desktop mic that I'm using while I practice using vst instruments and some audio snippets to create loop based music.
[Whoops, somehow my post was truncated. I'll add my question below.]

lust for engineering knowledge
Forums
I recently had a very talented young musician complete a recording appreticeship with me for the last 4 or 5 months. I see a lot of posts from people wanting to learn and trying to decide the best way in, school or the street. I learned from reading and doing. Maybe things were different back then, I don't know.

SSL 9000J good or bad?
Forums
I know this sh*t is totally subjective, but I'm gettin ready to mix an upcoming project, and I'd like some input. I have been mixing on discrete Neves and API's for quite awhile. Once in a blue moon, I'll mix on an SSL. Back in the 80's I used nothing but SSL's and hated every minute of it. A G+ with Ultimation, I can just barely hang with.

Plugins- any good spectrum analyzers?
Forums
Howdy-
I'm looking for a good quality spectrum analyzer plugin I can strap across the 2-bus. Does such a thing exist in VST land?
Thanks in advance,
Ed

Many have heard about Universal Audio's Powered Plugins DSP card which should be available sometime this year. The big question was would they support RTAS. This should answer that question.
