With the proliferation of cheap starved-plate tube gear I'm finding it hard to track down a decent affordable solid state 2-channel mic preamp. As much as I regret letting go of my SX202 it wouldn't satisfy my current needs. Does anyone know of something decent under $300 with an internal power supply (no wall wart) in a 1RU chassis (no rack trays or accessory rack ears needed)?

Curious to the thoughts on SSL going into live audio market.

I called a couple local ear doctors, and i can get 'musicians ear plug's' for between $125-150, including the cast mold of my ears. this is a very reasonable price given hearing is not like fixing a broken bone.

Getting ready to record vocals for my band's album.
The genre is progressive metal.. Vocal style is mix of James Labrie, Ozzy, Dio..
My current setup is :

RODE NT1a mic --> Groove Tubes brick preamp --> EMU 0404 USB (A/D) ---> usb into PC--> Reaper DAW

I am pretty well versed in hardware of computers, software not sooo much. What is better for recording 32 bit or 64 bit, I just built a comp and I need to get windows. Just wondering what would be best.

So, I never set out to do VO, but I was playing around with a new mic, made a silly recording and sent it to a friend (you know, so he could laugh at it, then delete it.) He works with a small non-profit television studio. Joy of joys, he shares it with his boss and a couple other guys and I get a request for VO work. I am more than happy to oblige but...

hi, i have å m audio fast track pro, Roland mc 303 and a Mackie onyx 1220i and i use Ableton live 8 suite. ideally i would love to run my 303 groove box through the desk and sequence in live. is this possible?

any help would be great.
