I have been looking at Audio-Technica's Kit Pack drum series to use with my Yamaha AW16G to mic up drums

Do you know if they are any good?

If not what would you suggest? Bearing in mind my budget for drum mics is about £110 totol :oops:

I already mic my toms and top of my snare with SM57's. Is there an affordable mic out there that does well on the snare bottom. I feel I'm using too many 57's as is. .what do you think?

Maybe I can mic the bottom with a 57 and use something else on top?

What drum sample program would you recommend? Also, what would be better: a set of electronic drums such as roland or Yamaha, or a drum sampling program?

how important is this? I know most project studios don't do it, but is it a good way to get a crisper snare sound? what exactly does it do for the sound if "crispiness" has nothing to do with it? We will be using a D6 on the Kick, two AKG 460b Condensers as OH's, and we have an md 421 and a 57 to play with as far as the snare...

I realize this is an industry standard, but this has to be genre specific, right? I am not experienced with recording by any means, but the thought of using an md421 for metalcore double bass craziness drives me bonkers... am I just plain way off or what?

I have looked all over this site for good info on symbols. I want to hear you guys debate over the cream of the crop cymbals.

My son has a kind of small recording space in our old guest room. We've been thinking about making a larger room-in-a-room personal studio in the garage for a better recording space. But, it's damn expensive. I had a thought. Please tell me if it is worth considering.
