General Use of Software Compression on Drums (2 mic setup)
Using a mic on the kick and an overhead, what are some general ways to use software compression?
It is going to be a typical modern rock/pop mix. I know everything is probably close mic'd and/or replaced with samples, but I only have access to this setup.
Advice on equipment for drums.
Hey there, well I have this list of things to buy in mind but I was hoping to get a peer review to make sure Im not missing something important or doing something very stupid. Im a drummer and am hoping to record myself playing to some tracks. This would be my main use for the equipment but Im under the impression that I could record other instruments (e.g.

Recording Drums
I use Toontrack Superior Drummer. Superior software changes the velocity, but I also manually change the velocity using piano roll in Sonar X1. When I try to export my audio, mix, and master it loud so that it will get close to matching todays volume, the drum velocity sounds flat as a pancake again and all one volume. I want all of the drums to sound natural and have different volumes.

Hi. I was wondering if someone used the preamp Peavey VMP2 pre for drum overheads, or for a Glyn Johns setup overheads?
Opinions are welcomed!
Thanks in advance!

Midi Drums..Snare changing pitch
So we laid down some drum tracks tonight.
V-Kit--->M-Audio INterface--->Cubase 5
I went back after the session and ran the tracks through EZ Drummer (I know- that's all I have at the moment) and I notice the pitch of the snare changes throughout the tune. It actually sounds like it has chorus on it.

How do you make MIDI Drums sound real?
I write my own drum beats and save them as MIDI files. What's the best way to get them sounding real and awesome (without using a real drum kit)?
I use SONAR X1 Studio on a Windows 7 32-bit O/S.
Do I need to be using something like BFD2 or Superior Drummer 2?
Any advice on this matter is welcomed. Thanks

How do you guys track your drums?
Hey everyone quick question. How do you normally track your drums in your DAW? I've been trying to figure out how to record drums for some time now. I've gotten the mic placement side down just need to figure out how to track it in my DAW. I normally use a Sure SM57 on the snare, an Audix D6 on kick, 3 Sennheiser E604's on toms, and two Sterling Audio's for overheads. So 7 mics in all.

mic and mixing drums
hello everyone, this is my first post.
I have a cheap Behringer xenyx 1222 fx usb. it's a cheap mix cause I don't have cash to get propper material right now.
My drum kit is a pearl forum seriez and I use Istanbul samatya cymbals.
I have a Shure pg 52 on the bass drum, 2 samson co2 for overheads and a Shure sm58 for the snare.
