deciding on microphones..help
As I am on a budget, I posted this in the budget gear area. I am wanting a decent condenser microphone to be able to record vocals mainly, but also acoustic guitar and electric (paired up with my sm57) when needed.

Suggestions for Micing toms?
I've been muddling along for a while now with a basic 3 or 4 or 5 mic setup for drum kit. OHL-R + Kick + snare + HH. While I like this KISS strategy and have been pretty pleased with the results (or I would be if I liked my HH sound) I've blocked out some time this weekend to do some experiments with mics on the toms.

Selections? Interface, mic & preamp
I have been in the process of building a home studio for some time now. It will be primarily used for pleasure, but I am very much a perfectionist so quality is extremely important to me. I'm revamping everything and started by getting an IMac. I will be using Pro Tools system for the first time so that new to me.

Mic combination for Vocal & Acoustic guitar
Okay so I'm looking mic vocals and acoustic guitar. This doesn't have to be at the same time, though the option would be nice.
I was intending to buy an AT4033 for the vocals but keep getting told the AT4050 provides more options (not just cardioid etc).
Also I was thinking of a stereo matched pair of NT55s. I could also then use these on other things e.g. drum overheads.

Budget Vocal and Overhead mics
Okay, I am looking for a nice vocal mic, for about £200. So far I have been looking at the RODE NT1000 & NT2A and the BLUE Bluebird.
I am also looking for a matched pair of condensers that could be used for drum overheads, but also acoustic miking. The RODE NT5 is what I have my eyes set on at the moment.
Am I on the right track?

Mic placements for acoustic guitar recording
Hello
I am not very experienced with recording techniques - I am a composer and bassist, but have a new gig writing tracks for radio beds. I want to record an acoustic guitar part, but could use some tips on mic placement.

Guess that mic?
Ok, on the Dave Matthews at Radio City music hall DVD, what mic is he using. Here is a good youtube video.

My bud has very similar vocals and I'm beefing up my mic cabinet, so time to see what Dave is using.

Yet Another Mic Selection.
Ok here comes another what should I buy question.
I am debating between a deal on used a AKG C414 B-ULS,
And a new RE-20.
I know two totally different mics. I Figure I need more low frequency mics, and general everything mics. I love the RE-20 and used them often in the past. The C414 I have had a chance to play with once or twice, but it was not the ULS version.
