Floor tom/ Vocal Mic.
Hello all.
I'm not on a small budget, but I'm also not on a huge one.
I currently have a small diaphragm condenser mic for vocals.
For drums I have a set of condenser overheads, three SM57's and a Beta52 for the kick. I need to get one more Mic for the set. (Its a 5 piece)

I have an Electro-Voice 676 mic that has no grill. I just bought a second one (has not arrived) that also has no grill.

Alternative to double tracking and multiple microphones
There are several ways to get a thicker sound. I was hoping to discus one that I heard about recently.
So there is double tracking: recording the same part with multiple takes possibly changing guitars, amps, EQ.
Second Mic
I'm working to record vocals and acoustic guitar, and I'm buying mics.
I currently have a Studio Projects B1, and I need to buy a second microphone. I've been told that if I get two mics I shouldn't get two of the same, so I'm looking for some suggestions.

Observation on Micing electric guitar cabinets.
A short time ago, I posted a question about the necessity of recording electric guitar at high SPL (something I had read many times). The responses were in agreement, and several reasons were given as to why a miced guitar amp records better at loud volumes, including the stress of maxed out speakers and tubes.
MICROPHONE SUGGESTIONS?
Hello all i'm gearing up a personal 'project studio' and currently using a cheap set of apex mics and a ShureSM57 (which i'm not a big fan of for recording guitar parts on next to even the cheap condensers) but any who i was wondering of some GOOD mics to invest in (no specific price range/purpose) so if you could leave a suggestion and a small description of why you suggest such a mic and for

Super close guitar cabinet micing?
On my 2 X 12 guitar cabinet, the speakers are quite deep. I wonder if anyone here has any experience taking the grill off and loading a mic much closer to the cone. Is there any benefit to such an approach?

I Can't Even Use my own gear! Pre, comp, mic
Hi,
I'm a composer and I need to record simple demos in my home studio. I've got good enough gear to do that and I get pleasing results on my vocals during low volume takes. But during louder and higher passages, esp. for females, I just keep getting so much distortion.
I know the problem is that I can't set my gear properly, so I need your help.

Is it worth it to buy a new mic?
Hi all
I've been doing this recording thing in my spare time for about a year now and really enjoy it. Right now for vox I use an At2020 and a Superlux cheap condesor microphone. I seem to get mediocre success with both of them. It seems like the superlux is a bit hollow sounding lacking midrange and the at 2020 is quite harsh around 5-6k.
My questions are
